The time it takes to complete your portrait once you are booked in always varies depending on how many bookings I have at any one time. When you get booked in you will be added to my waiting list. I have displayed on my website how many portraits I have booked in which I keep updated. Each portrait takes as long as it takes, so I cannot give an estimated turnaround time, however you could expect it to be approximately 1-2 weeks per commission. I don’t work to deadlines to avoid disappointment of the artwork not being completed in time, and also to ensure every artwork gets the exact time and care it deserves. I can offer a fastrack option, you can view details of this on the 'Getting Booked In' page.

How do you send the portrait?

The best way to commission is to have a read through the ‘Getting Booked In’ page on this website, and then emailing me to discuss the portrait and payment.

I also send them with the quickest postage (one working day usually).

The same materials and paint are used on the paintings on paper and on canvas, the only difference is what it is painted on. I use a paper with a canvas texture, specifically designed for use with paints. And for paintings on canvas it is on cotton canvas, stretched around wooden stretcher bars with an approx depth of 21mm. The difference isn't in the quality, it would more depend on how you would want to frame your painting. Paintings on paper are mounted to fit in picture frames behind glass. Whereas a canvas would be framed in a canvas or floater frame, and not put behind glass. If you have any questions on the materials I use, or any advice on framing your portrait please just ask, I'm always happy to advise.

Can you do text on the portrait?

What is the difference between a painting on canvas and a painting on paper?

No, I will paint/write a pet's name very small on a portrait but I don't do big or calligraphy style text. This includes large amounts of texts including poems etc.

Do you do human portraits?

Do you do discounts if I commission more than one portrait?

Can I have the artwork unsigned?

No. I have painted the odd torso, legs, hands, etc, if it worked well with the portrait. But I never paint human faces. I specialise in animals mostly. Second to that is landscape, I can do still life and buildings if asked. But I turn down human commissions, I would rather fit in a commission that I specialise in.

My prices are as low as they could be per portrait at the moment so I don't offer discounts if you are purchasing more than one portrait.
